The Salem Elementary Program

The elementary class serves children ages 6 to 12 years and provides a rich and exciting environment that supports inquiry based learning. In the elementary classroom we offer "keys to knowledge" that spark the child's imagination and sitir his natural curiosity to investigate the world around him.

Children, at this age, are driven to understand the universe and their place in it. At the same time, they are striving to assimilate all aspects of their culture and their ability to do this is boundless. In the elementary classroom they are given the opportunity to study the universe through Mathematics, Language, Geography, Biology, History, The Arts and Music. Lessons are given by a trained AMI teacher using approved Montessori Materials to aid the children in developing skills needed to discover and understand their world. In the prepared Montessori environment children become active life-long learners.

Salem Community Montessori School's Elementary Program encourages participation in community service. The students design and complete service projects throughout the year. Family participation in these activities is welcome.
